Summary/Abstract: This study aims to compare the phenomenological approach and grounded theory from qualitative research methods. First, the phenomenological approach was examined and grounded theory was analyzed. Then, the similarities and differences of both research designs are given respectively. Thus, in the conclusion section of the study, the results obtained from the analyzed findings in the light of the current literature were discussed. In the conclusion reached; it was determined that phenomenology focuses on the more individual, while grounded theory focuses on the more general structure and theory construction. The suggestion presented in the study is; methodological dichotomies should be overcome, research should be conducted on the axis of the research problem and with a conciliatory attitude between research designs. More studies should be conducted in the Turkish literature comparing qualitative research and including discussions focusing on similarities and differences.
