SWOT ANALYSIS AS A TOOL FOR COPING WITH ISCARUS SYNDROME

Summary/Abstract: Businesses are established, develop and grow in line with their goals. Growth is one of the general goals of every business. Growth is a desired process for businesses. However, if growth occurs too quickly and is not managed properly, it can create problems for businesses. In fact, the business may experience Icarus syndrome, which we can describe as the worst outcome. This syndrome refers to the (virtual or actual) demise of a business after an initial period of dazzling growth. As a coping strategy, it is necessary to analyze the situation and determine its strengths, weaknesses, threats and advantages. In this way, they avoid Icarus syndrome by making correct and rational decisions without experiencing problems when making decisions regarding growth and development. The aim of the study is to explain the ikarus syndrome and to reveal the consequences of the ikarus syndrome for businesses. It also contributes to businesses by explaining the relationship between the SWOT analysis method and Ikarus syndrome as a strategy. There are not many studies on the subject. Thus, it is evaluated that the research will be beneficial to those concerned and will bring a new perspective as a way of dealing with Ikarus syndrome.
