FROM THE CHALLENGES OF AN INSTITUTION. THE COMMISION’S ACTIVITY FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF THE TRANSYLVANIAN STATE ARCHIVES BETWEEN 1921-1923

Summary/Abstract: The aim of our research is to highlight how this Commission contributed to the setting up of the Cluj office of the State Archives, focusing on the efforts to solve logistical problems, to appoint a leader and to identify and recover the archival heritage of the Transylvanian territory. The novelty of this approach originates in the detailed analysis of the Commission's activity, which has only been touched upon in the Romanian historiography and in the published and unpublished archival sources that have not been exploited until now. Among the documentary sources used, a central place is occupied by the archival records kept in the repositories owned by the National Historical Archives Service in Bucharest and the Cluj County Service of the National Archives of Romania.
