Summary/Abstract: Social support plays a key role in coping with difficult and stressful life events, including the transition from a natural environment to a residential social service facility. The resources of social support are anchored in the social networks of man. The aim of the study is to identify the sources of perceived social support of the recipients / social service product in an institutional setting and to identify differences in the context of selected variables: Age, gender, gender, gender, education and marital status. In collecting the data, we used a non-standardized questionnaire, which captured sources of percipient social support. The research sample consisted of N=128 recipients and recipients of social service in the Banská Bystrica region, aged between 60 and 95. For recipients of social services, the most frequently cited source of social support is their family members (children) and assisting professionals, usually social workers. Age, gender, education and family status do not play a significant role in relation to the perceived sources of social support.
