Summary/Abstract: Expanding on previous studies showing correlations of Assessment Centers ratings and cognitive ability tests results, these studies investigated the nature of this relation. Evidence from two samples of managers in Russia shows that the correlation is non-linear and indicates that low-level intellectual abilities adversely affect the effectiveness of a manager’s leadership behavior but high-level of intellectual abilities does not result in an increase in effectiveness.
