Summary/Abstract: In the presented work, the point of consideration is one of the areas of Czesław Czapów’s work, which is related to his activities in the Krzywe Koło Club. He joined the Club’s work after a difficult period in his life, related to over a year of hiding (after a fake suicide) from the UB. It was a consequence of active participation – at the turn of 1950–53 – in the meetings of the informal discussion group „Personalists”, culminating in an arrest and a multi-month investigation. The Club Krzywe Koło, operating since 1956, brought together intelligentsia: scientists, writers, artists, journalists with very different socio-political views. The weekly discussions were attended by people with such extreme views as: Jerzy Braun, Jerzy Urban, Władysław Bartoszewski, Leszek Kołakowski, Paweł Jasienica, Jacek Kuroń, Antoni Słonimski, Jan Józef Lipski, Tadeusz Kotarbiński and Czesław Czapów.Very quickly it became a place for open intellectual discussion, which was a unique „phenomenon” in the entire socialist camp. It is safe to say that it became one of the „symptoms” of the thaw in Poland at that time, which began after the death of Joseph Stalin in 1953 and was completed by the disclosure of Nikita Khrushchev’s secret report at the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1956.
