Summary/Abstract: With 36 years of history since the fall of communism, bilingual education is one of the most widespread school models in Hungary, and today it has become a model that not only encompasses public education, as many kindergartens offer bilingual education. One of the greatest advantages of bilingual education is the transmission of knowledge in the target language. Nevertheless, even after a thorough search in scientific publications, specific research relevant to the target language disciplines can only rarely be found (Kapusi 2021, 26). This is especially true for Italian-language subjects, as only four secondary institutions in Hungary offer bilingual Hungarian-Italian teaching. Our study aims to enrich the scarce specific literature on the Italian language of instruction in bilingual education, with a particular focus on the subject of Geography.
