Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the Carbon Capture and Storage (CSS) technology as a proposed measure for reducing the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere from combustion of fossil fuels. In the first section the author briefly describes how the CCS process works. In the following sections she discusses the geological storage of CO2, major security issues to be taken into account, examples of CCS projects as well as the relevant technological, economic and legal issues related to the potential application of this technology in Poland.
