Summary/Abstract: The aim of the presented study is to provide an overview of the main areas and directions of criminological research worldwide. The authors do so through the world’s largest criminological association — the American Society of Criminology.Despite its seemingly restrictive name, it brings together not only criminologists from the USA, but from some 60 countries aroundthe world. The 75th Annual Meeting in San Francisco has so far been the largest criminology forum in the past six years and thesecond largest in terms of attendance in the more than 80-year history of the ASC. The paper also presents the aims and objectivesof the American Society of Criminology, its structure in the form of Divisions and the themes of selected ASC Annual Conferences. To an important extent, these topics reflect current research trends in world criminology. The paper goes on to point out the ASC’sdecades-long relationship with the Bialystok School of Criminology BSC.
