Jacob Sponе and his journey to Antiquity

Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the journey organized by Jakob Sponе coincides with the last stage of the Age of Discovery, when there were already well-established trade networks. The author of the publication and the organizer of the trip, organized together with the English travel writer George Weller, is Jacob Sponе, who is a hereditary French doctor of German origin with prominent interests in the field of archeology and one of the first researchers who initiated the study of Greek monuments. Spon is also a scientist of international repute in view of his membership in the intellectual community Republic of Letters.
