Factors determining the high dynamics of prices and the structure of household consumption in Bulgaria (1998–2013)

Summary/Abstract: This study analyses the price dynamic of the goods included in the Bulgarian consumer price inflation basket. The study aims to check which factors affect the high price changes. It is applied cluster analysis and econometric method to evaluate the price and income elasticity of demand. It is determined the factors which trigger the high level of price changes. Factors such as new taxes, significant tax increases, or changes in the tax regime, could permanently change the demand‘s elasticity. It is derived conclusions.
