Summary/Abstract: This article presents teaching scenarios for the A1+ level. In these scenarios, the students contribute to a collective project of acquiring information about current world affairs. Using documentation sources such as the informative articles published in online journals, written in Romanian or any other language the students are familiar with, these teaching scenarios pertain to the framework of documentation, of the action-based approach and of pluri-cultural pedagogy. Mediation is the main activity in these teaching scenarios which enable the students to develop their linguistic skills in the target language and their general competences as well (savoir-être and savoir-apprendre). The article discusses the theoretical principles of the action-based approach in the teaching of culture-languages in an applied manner, by analysing several teaching scenarios. This scientific undertaking shows that the action-based approach, which is implicitly pluri-cultural and pluri-linguistic, provides a theoretical framework for courses on culture-languages to shape a space in which the principles of democracy can be enacted, in other words, a space allowing for the appropriate development of the generations of the twenty-first century, in a world dominated by rapid changes and diversity.
