Summary/Abstract: The newspaper “Duma na balgarskite emigrant” (“Word of the Bulgarian emigrants”) is a periodical edited by Hristo Botev and Angelaki Savich in the summer of 1871. It is published in Braila, with five issues being printed – a total of 22 pages. Despite the small volume, the newspaper was important for the Bulgarian emigration, since at that time there was no other Bulgarian periodical in Romania. Some of Hristo Botev‘s emblematic poems and articles are also printed in it. The semantic emphasis of the article is placed on a short message (published on 8th July 1871) presenting information from a Romanian newspaper about a revolutionary proclamation created and spread in the spring and summer of 1871 by Vasil Levski. The material shows that the center of the revolutionary movement at that time was in the Bulgarian lands south of the Danube River. Emigration is in the role of promoter of the initiatives of Vasil Levski and his collaborators. However, the ideas about the prospects of the national revolutionary movement were identical and centered around the concept of national liberation through an armed insurrection.
