Summary/Abstract: This article is an excerpt from the thesis of Ádám Kertész, an MA student in Theatre Studies at the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. The title of the thesis is The Representation of Roma Women in Contemporary Theatre. The excerpt analyses the Hungarian performance Éljen soká Regina! (Long Live Regina!) from the following points of view: the documentary tradition of Hungarian theatre culture, the spatial concept of the performance (“feminised space”), stereotypes related to the female gender, female representation, the female experience of oppression, the image of the Roma in the performance.
