The Linguistic View of the Dog (Comparative Studies Based on the Polish and German Material)

Summary/Abstract: The following article presents a study in the field of corpus and comparative linguistics, in which I investigate different connotations and uses of the word dog in Polish and German. The basis for my analysis is a selection of textual examples from the two linguistic corpora. I have analyzed their evaluation of the dog and human beings, which are compared to it. This article describes the frequency and usage of the word dog, both in comparisons and as pejoratives in Polish and German as well as grammatical changes and the influence of social development of language.
