Summary/Abstract: Commentary literature, particularly in the context of hadith, has opened a unique field with comprehensive and famous examples from early Islam to the present day. Today, various studies are being conducted as a reflection of this literature. In this context, independent works that emphasize meaning-interpretation and discuss principles have been compiled. It should be stated that these studies, conducted both in Turkish and various other languages, offer different insights for researchers. One of the such works is Syed Abdul Majid Ghauri’s book, Basic Principles in Understanding the Hadiths of the Prophet. This study serves as an introduction to the subject. In the book, nine fundamental principles are discussed with examples and it is a resource from which those who are new to hadith research can benefit.
