Legal aspects of the importance of medical examinations in a procedure of obtaining a driving license by persons suffering from diseases which symptom is loss of consciousness

Summary/Abstract: Nowadays motorizing plays essential role in functioning of a significant part ofsociety. It increases living comfort and money-making abilities. The legislator bearing inmind the importance of owning a vehicle allows to be a driver also for people with mental disorders. The aim of the article is to draw attention to the discrepancy between theimportance of medical examinations, with particular reference to driver candidates withdiseases which symptom is loss of consciousness, and the public perception of importanceof these examination. The article presents the procedure of obtaining a driving license,with particular emphasis on the role of medical examination in this procedure. The wholeis crowned with de lege ferenda postulates, indicating possible measures that could contribute to improving the existing legal standing.
