Compendium of knowledge about the Cook Islands [book review Wyspy Cooka. Wielowymiarowy obraz państwa i społeczeństwa]

Summary/Abstract: Bartłomiej H. Toszek's book is, as the author himself emphasized in the introduction, the first publication entirely devoted to the Cook Islands on the Polish publishing market. This may surprise many readers for tworeasons. The first is that since the beginning of the 20th century, researchers in our country have been writing scientific articles regarding the Cook Islands themselves, as well as the Oceania region and the island states. One of the first such articles was Political, Population and Economic Changes in the Cook Islands in the 19th and 20th centuries by M. Jedrusik. This text appeared in 2003 in the pages of Geographical Magazine. The second reason is the plethora of pub- lications on the country in English that are not translated into Polish.
