Summary/Abstract: The clocks presented in this article belong to the collections of „Paul Păltănea” History Museum of Galaţi and are of French origin. Through their stylistic particularities, they are in tune with the European trends in interior design, trends which were followed by the Romanian elites as well, during the reign of Alexandru Ioan Cuza. They are dated to the second half of the XIX-th century (more precisely, to the third quarter of the century) and they were owned by Anghel Duca (Director of the General Accountancy, between 1863 and 1865) and by Victor Place (Consul of France in Moldavia, between 1856 and 1863), personalities actively involved in the economical and political life during the above mentioned period.
