APARIŢIA, DEZVOLTAREA ŞI ROLUL REŢELELOR DE TELECENTRE ÎN UNIUNEA EUROPEANĂ
EMERGENCE, DEVELOPMENT AND ROLE OF TELECENTRES IN THE EUROPEAN UNION

Summary/Abstract: Telecentres could play an important role in supporting sustainable development and reducing the „digital divide”. They could also be a pretty efficient tool used to implement the Information Society. The aim of this paper is to briefly present: what is a telecentre, how is it related to a local community and what role can it play in its development. The paper goes on with a brief overview of the place which telecenters could occupy in the new European informational landscape and it ends with a presentation of the Romanian case.
