The role of Bulgarian identity documents in the fight against terrorism and stronger external borders

Summary/Abstract: Identity document fraud has the potential to compromise the identity management system, which will make it difficult to fulfill our country's commitments under the Updated National Security Strategy to counteract the global threat of terrorism in a unified and coordinated manner.The report attempts to prove that an effective identity management system in the Republic of Bulgaria implies adequate methods for preventing and combating identity document fraud. Without them, the reputation of our country can be seriously damaged, as other countries may not recognize or trust our identity and travel documents.
