Summary/Abstract: The gender pay gap is acurrent issue due to the gender equality problem in the labour market. The difference between earnings is in turn aconsequence of anumber of various factors, which include occupational segregation. The aim of this article is to theoretically consider the significance of occupational segregation in relation to the gender pay gap, as well as to analyse the phenomenon of discrimination in the context of the discussed segregation based on the Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition. The article posits that occupational segregation, generally treated as one part of the explained component of the wage gap, can stem from unequal treatment
