Summary/Abstract: Natural morphology, which is a well-developed theory with a whole system of linguisticanalysis, and the Bulgarian language with its long and well-documented history offer anideal opportunity, on one hand, to study the principles of natural morphology, and, on theother, to interpret already known changes in a new system of linguistic analysis. This articleaims to succinctly explain how the principles of natural morphology constantly operate andaffect the way and the direction of language change, and how these principles are affected bythe rotation of the five levels of linguistic analysis. All of this can be demonstrated using thehistorical change of the Bulgarian participles.
