Arte acción. Entre contemporaneidad y filosofía materialista

Summary/Abstract: In this article, action art or performance is explored as a realm where the performer poses radical questions through the body, transforming it into a philosophising event. Seeking to establish a connection between Giorgio Agamben’s concept of “contemporary,” and Nietzsche’s notion of “untimeliness,”, as well as drawing from the philosophy of the body that views performance as a form of materialist philosophy, the article analyses some of the issues of action art. The paper proposes action art as a corporeal-thinking manifesto, which based on the philosophical idea of the death of God, gives rise to an intermittent thought. This problematizes, from a political standpoint, the artistic canon and the regime of institutionalized bodies.
