AUTHORITARIAN LEADERS OF THE THIRD MILLENNIUM

Summary/Abstract: The authoritarian leaders of the early 3rd millennium want to convince their fellow citizens that only they can save the nation. They are all almost the same and have some common characteristics that make them similar. Their common features are edifying and are four in number: the creation of the cult of personality; contempt for the rule of law; populism - the desire to represent the people against the elites; promoting a politics driven by fear and nationalism.
