Summary/Abstract: This study is focused on the issues of surveillance, influencing and use of organizations and personalities of the German minority in Romania, who have become established in the West. These actions are illustrated by the relevant examples of unofficial Securitate collaborators who provided important information to the Communist Secret Service, on the one hand; and who actively participated in the manipulation of certain individuals, organizations and the Western public, on the other. The study also highlights the working methods of the Securitate during Stalinism, as well as the changes and modified practices that occurred after Ceauşescu took the power in 1965.
