Summary/Abstract: This research broadly examines the evolution of the electoral process in Turkey from the Ottoman Empire to the present day. Starting from the parliamentary trials in the last periods of the Ottoman Empire, the focus is on the Republican period and the transition to a multi-party system. The effects of elections on political maneuvers, democratization process, ideological conflicts and leadership races are discussed in detail. The important turning points in these processes were analyzed together with the contributions of the elections to political stability and democracy. Focusing on Turkey's change and development in the political arena, the social, economic and cultural effects of the elections were also examined.
