Summary/Abstract: The first piano concerto of the composer-pianist Moritz Moszkowski is unknown 140 years after his first performance. The history of this work is of interest to all pianists, musicologists and, of course, the audience. In the second half of the nineteenth century, the author wrote the work in question, filling a „gap“ of significant piano concertos with its scale and beauty. Even a brief reference can immediately show us that in the period between the creation of the First and Second Piano Concertos of Johannes Brahms, that is, between 1858 and 1881, it is not easy to name other such concerts that can be compared with dignity with opus 3 by Moritz Moszkowski. What is the path from finding the work in a French library to its execution and recording is the subject of this report.
