Summary/Abstract: Significant life and work period of Janez Trdina is associated with Rijeka, specifically with Rijeka high school. It is the oldest educational institution in the city on Rječina, which today operates in Sušak under the name of Prva sušačka hrvatska gimnazija in Rijeka. The paper presents a short review of the high school's history and through available school reports analizes high school's life and work during and after Janez Trdina's tenure in it from 1819 to 1868. The paper dedidactes specific attention to changes in concept, content and language of high school's reports and distingushed professor and students during the above period. Thus, through historical and descriptive method, it outlines and meets in detail the work environment and school atmosphere in which Janez Trdina acted in the capacity of professor.
