The impact of technological innovation on modern strategic management

Summary/Abstract: Rapid technological progress and frequent innovations in the environment and in the global market create a turbulent and uncertain environment for organizations worldwide. Strategic management is very often faced with numerous challenges and questions in addition to its other fundamental functions. The goal of this research is to show how technological innovations affect strategic decisions and the strategic making process, that is, to show the connection between technological innovations and strategic management, including their influence on strategy formulation and implementation. The main hypotheses of the work are that technological innovations affect the process of strategic management in the organization; that the introduction of technological innovations leads to changes in the organizational structure and that the introduction of technological innovations in the organization encourages employees to become drivers of innovation in all aspects of the organization. The question of the adoption of technological innovations in the organization is very topical considering the increasingly dynamic way of life and business, and because of the reliance of great successes on innovations. The results of the research show that the application of technological innovations leads to changes in strategic planning processes, including changes in the organizational structure, changes in the perception of management and an increase in the role of employees during the implementation of a certain technological innovation. Because of the above, the scientific contribution of this paper is significant, and will represent a solid basis for future work in this area of research. The paper also presents the limitations of this work and plans for future work in this scientific field.
