Summary/Abstract: Lithuanian presidential election of 2002—2003 has arguably demonstrated the power of public relations technologies in the society that is still captured by the disillusionment with the outcome of the transition. The election results might have therefore been surprising for some, including some political scientists, but now that the focus of the political process returns back from public debates to the political institutions in the narrow sense of the word, political scientists might again feel more confident in predicting the workings of the political system. This article, based on a seminar presentation delivered yet before the inauguration of the newly-elected President, is a brief attempt to apply the political theory on institutional models to forecast in the short-to-medium term the modes of relationship between the main political institutions, namely, the president, the prime minister and the parliament (or parliamentary majority).
