Summary/Abstract: In this article, the phenomenon of recidivism is studied from several perspectives, both legally, as a spillover of several convictions, and criminologically and sociologically, as a succession of crimes (regardless of their conviction) or socially dangerous behaviours, but also ecclesiastically it has been analysed. The various causes of the phenomenon were examined, and the statistics and the causes of recidivism were analysed. However, above all, the role of the various associations and the Bishops' Conference in preventing and redirecting recidivism towards a life of stable social integration of former offenders and former prisoners was examined. In the last part, the role of religion in general in the recovery and formation of prisoners was seen, especially that of Orthodox spirituality, which succeeds in treating and healing prisoners in their whole existential dimension through the path of asceticism and sacraments, through the power of the Word of God and the blessings of the Masses that bring to the morally ill in prisons the power of the grace of uncreated energies, which heal selfishness and all the disordered life of passions, wrong education and demonisms that influence the offender. Orthodoxy is the authentic way and method of recovery of offenders and solid prevention against recidivism.
