Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to present the interaction between theology and culture in the work of Church Fathers, contemporary Fathers, theologians, writers, and poets (St Dionysius the Areopagite, St Cyril of Alexandria, Saint Sofrony of Essex, Saint Porphyrios the Kausokalivite, Nikos Matsoukas, Dostoyevsky Maurice Béjart, Thornton Wilderamong others). From a theological point of view, the divine origin of creativity is defended against opinions that consider itthe result of the human being’s Fall from paradise. By the contrary, human creativity – included in the definition of the image of God in the human being – is the seal of the Holy Spirit and a gift from God. Therefore, the Philokalic aesthetics of Orthodoxy is not an oxymoron but reveals that beauty accompanies every manifestation of Orthodox spirituality and theology.
