Summary/Abstract: This paper proposes a critical reinterpretation of the ethical system developed by Polish phil- osopher Tadeusz Kotarbiński—which he called “conscientious care”—from a feminist perspective, and attempts to place it in the context of what is currently understood as technical reality. The in- spiration for these considerations comes primarily from the development of the concept of care in feminist discourses. In the article I investigate if and how this idea can apply to a world dominated by technology when we view it through the framework of conscientious care. Responses to the challenges of the modern world, especially the ongoing and increasingly severe effects of climate change, growing social inequality and rapid development of technology used to be sought within the framework of the system in which this world functions—which is to say that there are differences in that regard between the already somewhat musty capitalism of the early 20th century and its incar- nation hidden behind a relatively “friendlier” (but no less alienating) mask, underneath which lurks the conviction that the interests of large corporations can be reconciled with the needs of ordinary people. The methodology used in the article makes it possible to verify what benefit can be derived from a feminist reinterpretation of concepts that are inexorably rooted in historical social contexts, with a particular focus on their application in the context of technological development.
