Summary/Abstract: “The new millennium offers everybody a possibility to reflect over the achievements and failures of mankind during the past millennia and the challenges we will have to face during a new and more interdependent era in the history of mankind. A lot of our present-day concerns might seem insignificant in a long-term perspective, but the aim for sustainable, equal and healthy development, under the environmental perspective, is even more important since it concerns the survival of life on earth” . These days, a number of serious environmental problems lay ahead of humankind. Depletion of the ozone layer; irresponsible exploitation of underground waters; decrease of earth productivity; destruction of tropical rainforests as well as dry forests; irreversible loss of species, impact of uncontrolled population growth, etc; considerably influence the environment, making the environmental equilibrium in the viewpoint of sustainable development be fragile and frequently not sustainable.
