The Use of the Oral History Method on Examples from German History Textbooks and their Possible Application to History Teaching

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to recall the essential information about the position of the oral history method in historiography, but above all it brings arguments supporting the use of the oral history method in history education in relation to Strategy 2030+. It presents concrete forms of the use of oral history method in method sheets contained in current German history textbooks and their comparison with Czech production. It attempts to show that the oral history method can improve students’ historical awareness in history education, motivate them to take a greater interest in contemporary history and implement the challenges of Strategy 2030+.
