Summary/Abstract: A short and concise novel by Bulka Veljko Petrović tells about a fine and gentle female beauty, located in an unenlightened environment that values only possessions and money. The bulka flower, which is a sign of misfortune, symbolically announces the unusual tragedy of the heroine. Bulka is strung between the taut bows of life. Drive and passion have a decisive influence on the life and destiny of a girl of special beauty who was once admired by fiddlers. In this novel, Petrović examines the social and generic causes of loneliness and the tragic position of his heroine. In Bulka, Veljko Petrović painted the instinctive and paradoxical things that emerge from nature itself, which are elemental and crudely underlined in the gestures of human behavior. The novella Bulka enters the very peak of Petrović's creativity, and due to its enigmatic nature, it represents a real gem for new research. In this paper, we looked at the novella from several aspects and pointed out its mythical context, the connection with ritual and rite, we talked about the motifs of fine and gentle beauty as a terrible lack in the atmosphere of peasant-village life, as well as motifs of small growth and jealousy in an unenlightened environment.
