Tourism in the socio-economic development of Żyrardów

Summary/Abstract: Żyrardów is a city with post industry zone, which so far has not been considered as a place with a high potential for local development. Only just in the middle of last decade did the city authorities start to use the post industry zone for social and economic purposes. The city after the collapse of flax plants has a limited area which prevents the large-scale development of the industry. However, it has various cultural and nature qualities. It has been for those qualities that the authors decided to research the influence of the post industry zone on the development of tourism. For this purpose, a pilot survey has been conducted aimed at establishing the importance of the post industry zone, the investments introduced there and its influence on local tourism development.
