Summary/Abstract: The subject of the paper is the theory of composition in architecture, design, and the other arts. The aim is to prove that the science of composition is common for all arts. The evidence to prove the above thesis is found in three areas, through: - Facts in literature that show analogies between compositional techniques and tools in the different arts; - Analysis of statements of artists practising different arts, which “translate” the language of their art into the language of other arts; - Analysis of examples from the modern practice in architecture and design, showing intentional links with other arts. The discussion on the evidence thus collected seeks to find the basis of unity of the science of composition in arts. Conclusions are formulated about the mutual enrichment of arts via the joint knowledge of composition, its approaches and tools, analogies and translations.
