Summary/Abstract: The autonomy and the independent development of translation competence are considered in the present paper as phenomena that support self-evaluation and self-as-sessment . From the point of view of the constructivism and the design thinking concept, selected elements of the competence portfolio – degree of competence, Ishikawa dia-gram and road map – are presented in order to show their efficiency in the development of interdisciplinary competences. Their function after the university education, in the realization of authentic translation orders and goals is emphasized. This demonstrates the fact that learning can be viewed as a long-term practice.
