Summary/Abstract: Grigore Vieru's work stands under the sign of the absolute, of the sacred, of the natural, being marked by orality. Through his poetic creation, Grigore Vieru fights for belonging to the Romanian identity space, fights for the preservation of the Romanian language, of the Romanian national spirit, helping Bessarabia to breathe the clean and pure air of Romanian culture. Grigore Vieru writes about mother, about the country, he writes about childhood, about the blade of grass, he writes about happiness, but also about sadness. He writes about life and death. Thus, by writing and fighting permanently, he becomes a symbol, known and respected in Bessarabia, a valuable writer belonging to the postwar period of Romanian literature.
