Summary/Abstract: The sector of renewable energy has grown considerably over the past decades. The articleaims to analyse the terminology of photovoltaic energy in consideration of the fact that it is a recentlyemerged field, standing at the intersection of several disciplines, including physics, astrophysics, chemistry, and technology. As such, it faces the problems of building its own terminology. The articleexamines the terminological processes specific to this field, comparing them with the traditionalprocesses of term formation, including morphological, syntactic, semantic means and borrowing. Inaddition, it deals with certain specificities of the terminology of photovoltaic energy, particularly a highdegree of terminological synonymy, typical precisely of new, terminologically still not very stabledisciplines. For the analysis, the authors used the terms contained in Lexique panlatin de systèmesphotovoltaïques developed by the Réseau panlatin de terminologie.
