Summary/Abstract: Based on the arguments offered by a particular poetic discourse, that of Claudia Serea’s, and on the concepts that have become a lingua franca of theorists, namely those introduced by G. Fauconnier, F. Jameson, and G. Lukàcs, respectively, the paper attempts to see how “transcendental homelessness”, “cognitive mapping”,a nd “blending of mental spaces” (see Fauconnier and Turner, 2002) often come to play in the relentless attempt to find a proper symbolic/mental space of diasporic fiction or poetry. The paper will focus on Serea’s latest book, Writing on the Walls at Night (Unsolicited Press, 2022), as well as on her impressive activity as a translator of Romanian poetry published in the United States.
