Summary/Abstract: Nasuh Matrakči (his full name is Nasuh b. Karagoz b. Albullah el-Mitraiki el-'Silahi el-Bosnevi) is one of the most prominent authors from the 16th century. Former investigations indicated that he was born somewhere in Bosnia, educated at the Court of Ottoman Sultans in Istanbul, probably as a janissary, and that he lived anrd worked there. His creative work is versatile. He was distinguished as a historian, mathematician, artist and painter of miniatures, and he also wrote about knighthood and arms handling. However, we are here 'primarily interested in his work in the field of mathematics.
