THE INTERNET AS AN IMPORTANT TOOL IN SOCIAL RESEARCH

Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the issue of online social research, in which the Internet is used as a tool enabling this type of research among Internet users. The context enabling more complete consid- erations on the "technical" role of the Internet in scientific cognition in the area of social sciences is the reference in the presented text to the specific features of these sciences and the characteristics of the Internet as a medium. Much attention has been paid to two methods of online research, namely an online survey and a focused group interview ( focus interview ). Using the example of these methods, the advantages and disadvantages of Internet research were articulated. The article ends with a conclusion, the essence of which is stating the inevitability of the development of Inter- net research and a clear increase in its rank.
