Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the productivity of ideas and potential discoveries in the field of meter and folklore studies found in the correspondence between renowned scholars, professor academician Svetozar Petrović and professor emeritus James Bailey, conducted from 1994 to mid-2005. Furthermore, it provides an overview of key topics elaborated by Petrović, including the themes of enjambment complexity, comparative Slavic verse, meter in the Erlangen manuscript, and a critical review of published works and books. Professor Bailey particularly emphasized the fact that Svetozar Petrović’s letters, due to the wealth of presented thoughts/reflections, as well as impressive erudition, are true letters in the classical sense that should be adopted as a model, because they can be re-read, unlike most scientific texts of the so-called scientists of the time.
