Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the contents of the civic manuscript songbook Пƀсни Пƀсней (1813) and the new analysis of the previously presented data establishes the authorship of two patriotic poems of the poet Jovan Aleksijević written on the occasion of the “fall of Serbia” in September 1813. Both poems, Jarko nam je sunce za oblake zašlo and Slavno jest čuti, slavno umreti, were given by the poet to Filip Petrović, a teacher of singing, to write music to them when they met in the Šišatovac monastery on the day of the Slava of Lukijan Samosaćanin (1814), who was a patron of the famous Serbian poet and archimandrite Lukijan Mušicki. The author of this paper found and presented the texts and melodies of these songs that were sung in Serbian society in the regions of present-day Vojvodina and Serbia until mid-19th century. Finally, the paper presents a lot of new biographical data on poet J. Aleksijević and singing teacher F. Petrović that sheds more light on their collaboration in the difficult years of Serbian history, literature and culture.
