Summary/Abstract: We assign responsibility to achieve a goal. One of the general premises in the philosophical literature is that we can attribute a person moral responsibility if she meets two conditions: that the agent has control over her actions and that she can provide reasons for her actions. However, the fourth industrial revolution concerns the socio-technological phenomena that potentially confront us with the so-called responsibility gap. Since a vague and undefined use of the term responsibility characterizes discussions concerning it, it might be valuable to consider different types of responsibility to understand the problem of the responsibility gap, its scope, and possible solutions. By identifying the application conditions for these terms, we acknowledge that the moral responsibility gap is gaining importance because it is unclear how we could resolve it.
