Summary/Abstract: In this study, Natalia Trandafirescu provides both theoretical and practical support for a comprehensive approach to archival materials written in Greek palaeography, preserved by two heritage-holding institutions: the Central Historical National Archives and the Library of the Romanian Academy. By selecting a specific representative category from each holder – documents and Greek manuscripts, respectively – the author establishes their general archival context and subsequently describes and analyses these two categories with relevant examples, in a complete archival-palaeographic perspective. The sections dedicated to defining and categorising types of writing, along with the various challenges encountered in deciphering Greek archival materials with an abundant amount of examples, as well as a series of historical information correlated with palaeographic efforts, all contribute to turn this paper into an indispensable vademecum not only for studying and mastering the field of Greek palaeography, but also for archival science.
