Summary/Abstract: The previous research into the Skład albo skarbiec znakomitych sekretów oekonomijej ziemiańskiej... (first edition in 1689) written by Jakub Kazimierz Haur, focused on superstitions and beliefs directly concerning people or wild game. This article presents the results of the study of Haur’s text in respect of descriptions of farm animal diseases caused by witches. Haur had a tendency to combine Christian religiosity with magical thinking, which was characteristic of the 17th century. This tendency is noticeable in the discussion of diseases and remedies. On the basis of the analyzed work there are also reconstructions of Haur’s views on magic in relation to texts written by other authors of the same period (literary works, sermons, herbariums).
